Chelsea Curzon Cinema

Whilst waiting on the King’s Road for a bus back home, I thought I’d take a photo of the very beautiful Curzon, or Chelsea cinema. They just don’t make cinemas like this anymore do they? Kermode would be proud.

Once back in the office I tried to find some old photos of it – but to no avail, except for this cropped photo on the Curzon website itself.

If find any pics out there please let me know.

Prophet looks like a good film also by the way.

I used to go to that cinema when it was the Gaumont (and later, the Odeon). I saw lots of films there, in the mid-50s to the early 70s, when there were more than half a dozen cinemas within a square mile. The Essoldo, King’s Rd; Forum, Fulham Road; Paris Pullman, Drayton Gardens; Regal, Walham Green; and the Gaumont, Walham Green. Aaah.

Got you. Just where are all the cinemas dissapeaing to? Bring back the days when they used to interupt the film to serve you an ice cream!
