It’s only 9.20am and I’ve already been hit with two amazing tracks. One is a classic. How can the day get any better?
Great results from the Grammys last night with Beyonce picking up no less than six awards. Thank god she won something for ‘Single Ladies’ as that is such a classic tune. I remember when I first heard it and the bassline dropped for the first time, I was completely taken by surprise. And what’s with the metal hand?
Let’s hope she produces more tracks like these in the future instead of those dreary ballads.

This week I have been mostly listening to the fantastic new ‘Best of Bent’ collection from one of the best dance acts out there – Bent. It always makes me wince a bit when I hear about a greatest hits collection being released – partly because loads of bands out there think they can release this kind of collection after their third or fourth album. However, Bent have released loads of great material since they started, even if they seemed to have slipped under the radar in recent years.
A couple of years ago I interviewed the guys who were incredibly funny, intelligent and also drunk. Good times. Listening to these tracks you can still tell they’re trying to push the boundaries – and having a lot of fun in the process. Remember, this was at the time when Trance was taking over the world, looping in boring pop melodies and repeating the same trashy formula over and over again. So these guys were quite innovative. I think they used to belong to a genre now long forgotten. ‘Chill-out’ anyone?
Anyway, it’s been great to listen to these tracks again. Big Up.

Here you go. Just been sent this clips from Eilidh from Hed Kandi. Haven’t been to Ibiza this year, must sort this out – along with tickets to Sonar!
Anyway, enjoy..
