Atari Teenage Riot – Berlin 1999

Strange. Back in the 90s I was into bands like Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb, but I don’t think I ever listened to ATR. They’ve got a return gig coming up in London soon so I’ve been checking them out on You Tube. Some of it is quite shocking like this clip from the Berlin Riot of 1999. I’m hoping the gig isn’t going to be like this.

If you’re at work, you’ll need to unplug your headphones and turn the volume up.

The best song in the world – ever

No doubt about it. I can’t believe Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’ is now twenty years old but it’s still the greatest single ever released by mankind. And here’s why:

16, romance, romantics, new romantics, gospel, Martin L. Gore, Dave Gahan, harmonies, 303s, acid lines, techno, first kiss, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode fan club, Ministry of Sound interviews, video, abstract, blue, European, alternative, white rose, Anton Corbijn, 12″, remixes, poster paint on school bags, futuristic, 80s, stealing brother’s vinyl collection, HMV, discovery.

And I still have the actual vinyl. Wonderful.

I can’t post the video here because EMI have prevented me. Instead I’ll post this Commodore 64 version which some nutter has worked on. Genius.
