How the X Factor affects UK chart sales

Just received this from Nielsen. Pretty obvious, but still extremely interesting. It’s a shame that X Factor is now only one of very few shows on TV that artists can perform – the whole event is so theatrical it reflects badly on natural talent. But that may have always have been the case with tv talent contests.

I’ll still be watching it this year though!

Susan Boyle:We Love You!

I hold in my hand one of the greatest albums of the decade. Forget Coldplay or Arctic Monkeys, when people look back on the naugties they’ll be pulling out Susan Boyle and laughing in our faces. Who would have thought it that as we head into 2010 that one of the biggest releases would have been some random contestant from Britain’s Got Talent? And what a talent. And what timing. This is going to make an absolute packet for Mr.Cowell. All in all, an amazing piece of marketing.
