Britain Decides with LBC
Wow. What a week. Some very interesting results in the UK Election and now lots to debate as we discuss what’s next for Britain in the weeks ahead. Of course, we’ve been following the election extensively on LBC ever since Theresa May made her call for a vote back in April. Now that it’s over (although, you could argue the fun has only just begun!) I thought I’d highlight some aspects of our digital coverage you may be aware of.
LBC presenters Iain Dale and Shelagh Fogarty teamed up on a brand new daily news and politics podcast ‘Britain Decides’. It’s currently doing very well in the iTunes podcast charts and I’ve even learnt the meaning of esprit de l’escalier. Thanks Shelagh, sort of summarises my life really!
We’ve also been testing various new videos formats in Facebook. Here’s two picked from this morning’s reaction to the election results:
To complement radio coverage we also launched a Live LBC Election Results map which pulled in the latest data throughout the night. You can view the final results in all their glory below:
Lastly, but by no means least, we also launched a LBC election results Facebook bot a few weeks back to inform our audience about the various party manifestos and keep them up to date with the latest election news. To subscribe simply visit our LBC Facebook page, click ‘Send a Message’ and type ‘subscribe’.
Of course, I’m incredibly proud of the LBC digital team that make this all happen. They even won a recent Drum Online Media Award for ‘Best Use of Social Media’. Here’s our very own Adrian Sherling with a few words about that:
Lastly, I recently spoke to Newswhip along with our Head of Social about our LBC social media strategy, experimenting with video and ‘David Cameron’s Lament’ – which, of course, has nothing to do with the latest election results. Duh-Dum.
Until next time.
